Transportation Research Alliance (TRA) is part of the latest strategy by the new management of UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MALAYSIA (UTM), aiming to propel the university towards world class achievements in accordance to its missions and visions. TRA officially came to reality after the announcement by the honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dato Ir. Dr. Zaini Bin Ujang on the 27th February 2009. Dato’ Prof Ir. Dr. Alias Mohd Noor was elected as the first Executive Director of TRA, which manages the transportation, related Centre of Excellence (COE) in UTM. There are various research groups under these COE encompassing land, sea and space activities.
There are 7 Research Clusters or Categories under Transportation Research Alliance (TRA): Vehicle Mechanics Simulation, Automotive, Vehicle Electronics, Marine, Aeronautics, Transportation and Space Vehicles. There are research groups (RG) within these clusters which focus on their field of expertise. At any time, Transportation Research Alliance (TRA)could bring together these research groups for multi-disciplinary approaches.
Centre of Excellence (COE) and Research Groups (RG) under Transportation Research Alliance (TRA) are responsible to actively promote and engage research & development, consultancy and training activities in their expertise areas, addressing Transportation Technologies. These cover air, land and water transportations, logistics and infrastructure systems and other related engineering areas. There are 4 COE plus one which will be performed and 17RG under the roof of Transportation Research Alliance (TRA), with members of highly capable researchers geared to contribute to our university, industry, society and country
